Nishiki Food Market – Where kids go to say, “Ewww”

It was rainy and gray today, so we were looking for someplace inside to explore.  We decided to head to the Nishiki Food Market.

Now where I grew up there’s a market called the Qmart, where you can see some pretty interesting things.  But I’m pretty sure I never once saw Sparrow on a Stick.

And the Masterchef contestants will all be pleased to know they can find quail eggs here.

Whether you’re dreaming of Sea Urchin…

Tiny marinated fish…

Or biscuits that look sweet, but aren’t…

If you’re looking for some authentic local food, Nishiki Food Market in Kyoto is your destination.
