Row, row, row your boat

Yesterday, we made it out for a full day around Bangkok.  We started at the Jim Thompson House, which is the preserved house of, you guessed it, Jim Thompson.

This beautiful house was built by Thompson, who started a silk company that still produces lovely silk items.

Along with the silk, and the house itself…

We saw flowers and some traditional dancing.

And as we were leaving, the ladies who guided the tours gave the kids some origami figures they had made, which was the highlight of the visit for the kids.

After stopping for some lunch at a nearby mall (where the foodcourts are clean and cheap), we went to the river for a boat tour.  It was an interesting mix of temples…

And houses…

With views of the city at the beginning and end.

Best of all, despite some serious concerns about sea sickness, everyone had a great time.  By the end, the kids were riding the river like pros.
